PRIMARY WING
Green Grove Overview
The Green Grove primary School provides a caring atmosphere where students are encouraged to collaborate effectively, reason critically, think creatively and communicate efficiently.
Our aim is to encourage each student to not only strive to achieve academic excellence but to also aspire towards becoming a socially aware and responsible individual who is well equipped to excel in a global society.
The curriculum at GGIS is inquiry based and structured to balance scholastic achievement with social, emotional and personal development.
Our curriculum is divided into the following subject areas: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, ICT, Languages (Telugu/Hindi), and ESL. Cross-curricular links are established to inculcate a comprehensive and cohesive approach to learning.
Extension work is provided to ensure that every child is spurred on and feels challenged sufficiently.
Summative and formative assessments, which are administered by teachers, regulate academic progress and provide valuable feedback for adjustments in the instruction.
Co-curricular activities prepare students practically for the future. The normal curriculum can only go so far as to teach and educate students about academic theories. But students whose only experience of school or college is one of rigid academic study may not be able to apply what they have learned in practice. If the co-curriculum was given an equal footing in student life there will be an improvement in the student ability to grasp things as a whole, because students will have received a more rounded education. Co-curricular activities are particularly good at providing opportunities for students to work in teams, to exercise leadership, and to take the initiative themselves.
GGIS will always give equal importance to both the curricular and co-curricular activities.
